Position Overview:

St. Cyril School is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Second GradeTeacher. The ideal candidate will be passionate about fostering a love for learning, supporting the academic and social-emotional development of young learners, and integrating Catholic values into the curriculum.
Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development: Develop and implement rigorous and engaging lessons across multiple subject areas, including language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and religion, that align with national standards and grade-level expectations.

Classroom Instruction: Deliver differentiated instruction that meets the diverse needs of students, fosters critical thinking skills, and promotes active participation and engagement in learning.

Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments, analyze data to inform instruction, and provide timely feedback to students and parents regarding academic performance and growth.

Social-Emotional Learning: Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes positive behavior, social-emotional skills, and character development, emphasizing Catholic values such as compassion, respect, and empathy.

Integration of Catholic Identity: Infuse Catholic teachings, values, and traditions into all aspects of the curriculum, including daily activities, discussions, and special events, fostering students’ spiritual growth and understanding of their faith.

Parent Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with parents regarding student progress, behavior, and academic expectations, and collaborate with parents as partners in their child’s education.

Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to plan and implement interdisciplinary units, school-wide initiatives, and special events that enhance the educational experience for students.

Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills, stay current with educational trends and best practices, and deepen understanding of Catholic education principles.

Physical Demands: Provide active supervision, ensuring student safety and enforcing rules and procedures to prevent accidents or injuries. When performing activities throughout the day, the teacher spends the majority of the day standing in the classroom or walking around campus. Dealing with the students can entail kneeling or squatting, lifting, stooping, and bending. The teacher must see and hear on a continuous basis as well as speak frequently. On a rare occasion it may be necessary to move quickly, run, etc. over smooth to uneven surfaces such as on asphalt, gravel, on the playground, or on the grass. The work environment will vary from potentially very loud situations such as cafeterias and playgrounds to more moderate situations such as classrooms or large group professional settings. Adaptability to all weather conditions related to outdoor activities and/or travel is necessary. The employee must be able to work in air- conditioned and heated environments under fluorescent lighting.

Requirements

Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in liberal studies, education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
– California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential or eligibility for credentialing through completion of a teacher preparation program.
– Previous experience teaching elementary school students, preferably in a Catholic or faith-based school setting.
– Passion for working with young children and a commitment to their academic, social, and spiritual development.
– Strong knowledge of elementary curriculum standards, instructional strategies, and assessment practices.
– Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
– Alignment with the mission and values of St. Cyril School and the Catholic Church.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
