Description

Duties include (but are not limited to):

• Directing and accompanying the choir on organ for the Sunday 10:30 am Mass during the Choir season, (typically October-July)

• Directing and accompanying the choir on organ for principal feasts and solemnities during the liturgical year (Christmas and Holy Week/Triduum)

• Leading rehearsals once a week. The Choir currently rehearses on Thursday night from 7:00pm–8:50pm and the 9:45am warm up on Sunday mornings during the choir season
• Leading the assembly in song as cantor for the entrance antiphon, responsorial psalm, Gospel acclamation and Communion antiphon (choir sings the rest of the Mass) during the choir season; leading the singing of the hymns when the choir is off season (August-September). This position can be separated into separate cantor & organist positions if necessary

• Serving as the music “point of contact” for St. Luke Parish and coordinating with our other musicians

• Accompanying and leading the assembly in song for occasional funerals/weddings
• Work closely with the choir secretary in music organization and choir communication and management

• Start at a mutually agreed upon time to come on as an “assistant” under the direction and guidance of our current principal organist/choir director and to take over the ministry in August (this is flexible).

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required, candidate must be qualified with experience.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
