Description

Saint John Fisher Parish School is a TK-8 school and a ministry of the St. John Fisher Parish Community in Rancho Palos Verdes. We are seeking a dynamic, professional, experienced Religion teacher for grades four through eight for the 2024-2025 school year.

The successful applicant will:
• Exhibit knowledge of the Catholic faith and the ADLA Religion Standards, instructional strategies, and classroom management necessary for student success.
Understand the unique social-emotional and academic development of upper elementary and middle school students.
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with Pastor, Parish staff, students, families, faculty, and school staff.
• Coordinate preparation for school Masses and Stations of the Cross’ liturgies.
• Prepare students for the sacrament of Reconciliation during Advent and Lent.
• Coordinate an altar server schedule for daily weekday Masses.
• Assist the principal as needed regarding the faith formation of students and faculty.
• Assist the principal as needed in maintaining the Catholic culture and identity of the school.
• Facilitate adoration of the Blessed Sacrament by students.
• Inspire a spirit of service amongst faculty and students.
• Model Catholic values and bring faith to life in the classroom.
• VIRTUS train new families and faculty.
• Coordinate the implementation and record the completion of the ADLA Empowering God’s Children curriculum.
• Coordinate an ADLA fingerprinting day for school volunteers.
• Maintain the VIRTUS and fingerprinting records in collaboration with the school staff.

Requirements

The minimum requirements are:
• Proficiency in Catholic teachings and a commitment to integrating faith into the curriculum
• An undergraduate degree (BA, BS) from an accredited university or college
• A California Teaching Credential or equivalent from another state
• Full-time teaching experience

In addition to the above, the preferred requirements are:
• An advanced degree (MA, MS) in Education
• Middle school teaching experience

 

Wage Range

The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
