DESCRIPTION
Our Lady of Peace PS – 8th grade Catholic school is seeking a champion kindergarten teacher for the 2024-25 school year! We have small class sizes that enable teachers to work with students and families in a very respectful and caring community setting. Literacy is a major focus in all classes. We are looking for a person who is warm, welcoming, collaborative – with parents and colleagues. OLP is committed to high academic achievement of our students ( 80% of our students reaching grade level or higher achievement).
Qualities of this teacher include:
Exhibits a highly developed professional demeanor
Has a minimum of 1 year experience in primary education
Has a strong background in lesson design such as CIP (core instructional practices)
Thoroughly knows and teaches all kindergarten level standards, especially in reading, writing, listening and speaking
Has experience teaching phonics foundational skills, early writing, literary and informational text. Experience with Benchmark Advance is a bonus!
Experience teaching Envisions math and writing workshop is a bonus
Creative and project oriented
Understands and uses a variety of formative assessments, including digital
Has, or is in process of obtaining, catechetical certification
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
BA degree
Teacher certification
M. Ed (preferred but not required)
Virtus trained (can be done after hire)
Cleared fingerprinting (can be done at hiring)
1+ years experience
