Immaculate Heart High School, a Catholic, independent, college preparatory school for girls, has been located on a beautiful hillside property in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles, California, since our founding by the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1906. Our students are immersed in an exciting and challenging curriculum that inspires a love of learning while demanding the focus and self-discipline necessary for success in college and beyond.

Immaculate Heart High School is seeking an energetic and thoughtful Science Teacher, with an emphasis in Biology and Physiology, for the 2024-25 academic year. The teacher must value collaboration and have strong communication skills.

In Biology, the teacher must be comfortable and able to teach mastery of the following topics: cellular structure, function, and processes, homeostasis, genetics, evolution, zoology, and ecology. Laboratory activities are an essential component to enhance course content. The Physiology course provides an overview of the complex design and workings of the human body. This course utilizes laboratory experiments to enhance course content. Students are required to carry out dissections on a variety of animals.

Requirements

• Prior high school science teaching experience
• Bachelor’s degree in science, Master’s degree is an advantage
• CA Single Subject Teaching Credential

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
