Description
St. Bernard Catholic School is seeking a faith-filled, dedicated, and collaborative Elementary School Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. The teacher will provide engaging, standards-based instruction while supporting the academic, spiritual, social, and emotional development of every student.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of elementary reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies. The teacher must be committed to using assessment data to guide instruction, differentiating lessons to meet diverse learning needs, and maintaining a structured and welcoming classroom environment.
As a member of the St. Bernard School faculty, the teacher will work collaboratively with colleagues, families, administration, and the Student Support Team to help every student reach their God-given potential. The teacher will also integrate Catholic values throughout the curriculum and actively participate in the faith life of the school.
Primary Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based lessons.
- Provide strong instruction in reading comprehension, writing, grammar, and mathematics.
- Use student assessment data to plan instruction and monitor academic growth.
- Differentiate instruction and provide appropriate support for students with diverse learning needs.
- Establish a safe, structured, respectful, and faith-filled classroom environment.
- Integrate Catholic teachings, values, prayer, and service into daily classroom life.
- Communicate regularly and professionally with parents and guardians.
- Collaborate with grade-level teachers, support staff, and administration.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, school Masses, and school events.
- Maintain accurate student records, grades, lesson plans, and required documentation.
- Support the mission, policies, and expectations of St. Bernard School and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
Requirements
- Bachelor/ Master’s degree in education or a related field.
- California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential preferred.
- At least two to three years as a lead teacher.
- Elementary classroom teaching experience preferred.
- Practicing Catholic in good standing preferred.
- Commitment to the teachings and mission of the Catholic Church.
- Strong classroom management, organization, and communication skills.
- Ability to use technology and assessment data effectively.
- Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a professional learning community.
- Bilingual English and Spanish skills are a plus.
- Archdiocesan fingerprinting, VIRTUS training, and Safe Environment requirements must be completed.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
