SCOPE AND ROLE OF THE SALESIAN EDUCATOR
St. John Bosco High School is a private, boy’s Catholic high school owned and operated by the Salesians of Don Bosco. A Salesian Educator will promote academic excellence and support the faith development of young men in a private, Catholic secondary school setting. A Salesian Educator must work in collaboration with parents, students, teachers, administration, and community to promote student success while accompanying young men in their overall development and formation mentally, physically, and spiritually.

The St. John Bosco Director of Student Activities is responsible for overseeing and advising the activities of all student councils. The Activities Director works in close connection with the CYM & Vice Principal of Student Affairs. The Activities Director provides professional leadership in organizing, administering, supervising, and evaluating a creative school-life program. Coordinates all non-athletic student activities.

Performance Responsibilities:
1. Member of the Administrative Council
2. Assists in supervision/discipline of students during school hours, after-school, and during events
3. Student council ASB-moderator
4. Supervises all student body financial transactions, receipts, requisitions, and expenditures, and
reports such activities to the financial administrator.
5. Supervises and coordinates all student body social activities and special events
6. Supervises student activities eligibility
7. Organizes and supervises ASB Board and class elections
8. Organizes all student pep rallies and assemblies
9. Assists in scheduling, selecting, and presentation of assemblies and rallies in conjunction with the
Vice Principal of Student Affairs
10. Maintains a master schedule of Student activities, schedules assemblies, and all other extra-curricular activities
11. Supervises and in conjunction with the moderators, coordinates all club and class activities.
a. Monitors club budgets
b. Evaluate effectiveness and need for various clubs with the Vice Principal of Student Affairs
c. Publish an online directory of existing clubs
12. Prepares and presents an annual budget to the principal for approval in March of each school year
13. Coordinates with the Principal and VPSA all social activities involving faculty and staff
14. Performs such other duties as may be necessary or assigned by the Principal.
15. Participates in national, state, and/or regional/provincial activities that advance the mission of our school.
16. Establishes, manages, and coordinates the Executive Student Life Board
17. Administration and Coordination of School Spirit Programs
a. Supervise and evaluate the Cheerleaders, TRIBE, Band during each assigned home/away game
b. Provides transportation to each event/venue assigned/approved by the school
c. Coordinates Homecoming Week, Half-Time (Football/Basketball), Senior Nights, other Varsity Sports as assigned
18. Communicates Activities:
a. Update information on school website/social media
b. Responsible for SJB Student Life Instagram account
19. Works in conjunction with the Coordinator of Youth Ministry in regards to youth ministry activities
20. Supervises and evaluates quarterly/bi-annually the Class Moderators
21. Coordinates the Student Leadership Core Team with the CYM
22. Coordinate Student Government
a. Organize Class Boards
b. Organize and Participate in ASB Retreat
23. Plans and runs Freshman/New Student Orientation Days
24. Organizes all student ID photos, senior portraits, class ring orders etc
25. Serves on the Graduation/Commencement Planning Team along with VPSA and APAA
a. Baccalaureate Exercises
b. Graduation Practices
c. Graduation Day
26. Coordinates together with the Director of Activities of St. Joseph High School all activities relating to the participation of both student bodies.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree (addition of valid Teaching Credential Preferred)
  • Experience in the area of student affairs
  • Knowledge of and advocacy for the mission of Catholic Education.

 

Wage Range

The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
