Description

Saint Paul the Apostle School is a Transitional Kindergarten through 8th grade elementary school in Los Angeles, near UCLA. We are seeking a part-time (approximately 20 hours per week) bookkeeping clerk to handle the day-to-day bookkeeping duties. Reporting to the Business Manager, the bookkeeping clerk assists in the financial stewardship of the school.

Duties include:

Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
• Receive, verify, and pay invoices using QuickBooks.
• Ensure that expenditures are properly categorized.
• Uploading checks written into the bank fraud protection system.
• Processing and posting deposits coming from multiple income platforms.
• Reconciling of credit card transactions.
• Make journal entries as directed.
• Recording of and acknowledging in-kind donations to event donors.

Reporting
• Reconcile accounts.
• Generate and submit monthly reports including income statements and balance sheets.
• Assist the Business Manager with budget preparation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to work with concentration, accuracy, and attention to detail.
• Basic knowledge of accounting principles, financial record keeping practices and procedures.
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision while prioritizing workflow to meet deadlines.
• Ability to use judgement and discretion with sensitive data.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of bookkeeping/accounting experience.
• Competency in MS Office and QuickBooks
• Hands on experience with spreadsheets and financial reports.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others in a positive and friendly manner.
• Ability to perform filing and record keeping tasks.
• Associate degree or relevant certification – preferably in accounting or a related field.
• Fingerprinting clearance and Safeguard the Children certification (can get once hired).

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
