Friday of the Third Week of Advent
An Epic Love Story
Today’s Gospel tracing the lineage of Jesus reminds us that everyone has a past, including the Son of God, and not all of it is of the Hallmark variety. Sometimes we get caught up in our stories — the ones we write for ourselves and the ones others write for us. As we journey through Advent, we are reminded again and again that we do not have to be bound by the world’s expectations, or even our own expectations. We need only allow ourselves to be who God has created us to be, beautiful with all our flaws and imperfections, loved just as we are at this very moment. What stories no longer serve you? Turn them over to God in prayer and immerse yourself in the love story that is our salvation.
