More tough love from Jesus in today’s Gospel. Once again, we’re looking for a message filled with holiday spirit, and instead we get a cold dose of reality. This is the week of wake-up calls. We are too comfortable, too set in our ways, too confident that we are doing all that is required, and Jesus sets about to snap us out of it. Who does the will the father? The one who gives lip service to the request but ultimately ignores it, or the one who does what the father asks, even if it is begrudging at first? We like to think that we are in the right camp, but Jesus hints that maybe we are not. What is God asking of you today? How will you answer?
