Just Push Pause

(Memorial, St. Francis Xavier, Priest)

Spending regular time with God often opens our eyes and our hearts to things we just didn’t see before. It’s as the though the quiet time spent in prayer washes away the grime that’s been clouding our spiritual lens. Suddenly, like the blind men in today’s Gospel, everything comes into focus as we look out on the world as if for the first time. What has this time of waiting brought into focus for you? When we race through our days, we miss so much along the way. The gift of pausing allows us to slow down long enough to take it all in and to decide if we want to embrace our one “wild and precious life” as the poet Mary Oliver called it, with all its beauty and brokenness.
