Southern California Christian Forum – Faith and Order Commission

Both the World Council of Churches (WCC) and the National Council of Churches (NCC) sponsor Faith and Order Commissions, or theological study groups. The Southern California Christian Forum also sponsors a Faith and Order Commission, which meets monthly in person or through video conferencing, encouraging theological dialogue among the member Christian traditions on issues confronting churches in our region. The aims of the Commission are:

• To promote prayer for Christian unity in Southern California
• To receive, study, and respond to Faith and Order documents received from both the WCC and the NCC and to interpret these for local communities
• To engage contemporary and fresh expressions of the church
• To encourage seminaries and schools of religion to engage in Faith and Order studies
• To provide theological perspectives on concerns and issues raised by the Southern California Christian Forum
