Saint Monica Preparatory is a TK-12 day school and a ministry of the vibrant St. Monica Catholic Community in Santa Monica.
We are accepting applications for a full-time instructional aide in Transitional Kindergarten.
The qualified applicant will:
- Be a mission and service driven employee dedicated to be a collaborative member of the St Monica Community.
- Begin work on August 12, 2024
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist teachers in the preparation of instructional materials.
- Work with students with varying learning needs.
- Build collaboration with teachers and administrators through effective, timely, and pertinent communication.
- Advocate for students’ needs to teachers and administrators.
- Contribute to the school and classroom community by accomplishing tasks as required.
- Communicate with teachers and administrators.
- Supervise students at recess and lunch (requires standing, walking, mobility)
- The approximate allocation of responsibilities and duties is 30% student playground supervision and 70% in class instructional aide.
Job Skills and Qualifications
- A commitment to learn and implement the principles of dignity and equity throughout the school.
- Demonstrated proficiency in communication – verbal, listening, & written.
- Ability to guide students in problem solving.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize work, & engage in timely and appropriate information sharing with teachers and administrators.
- Possess the characteristics of Catholic school professionalism.
- Remain flexible, dependable, and dedicated to Catholic education.
- Demonstrated ability and commitment to support the mission and vision of our school
- Willingness to learn common educational technology.
Requirements
The minimum requirements are:
- Experience working with primary age children.
Education requirements:
- Minimum requirements are a HS diploma.
- Preferred requirements are an AA degree in Child Development or a related field.
- Special consideration will be given to applicants with a BA degree in a discipline of education.
Compensation & Process:
Negotiable, dependent upon experience.

Compensation is aligned with applicant’s experience and education. Compensation range is $20 to $25 per hour.
Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
