School Principal Opportunity
Saint Mark School seeks a transformational and visionary leader to serve as the school’s principal beginning in July 2022. The school has served Venice, CA and surrounding communities since 1953 and currently serves 246+ students in grades TK-8 to provide a Catholic education rooted in academic excellence within a Christ-centered environment, inspiring students to care for self, care for others, and care for the environment. Central to its mission effectiveness, the school seeks to establish a dialogue about faith formation among parents to inspire and promote the practice of the faith at home.
By promoting a Christ-centered environment, teachers, students, and the larger community work cooperatively and creatively, to welcome children and families of all faiths who embrace the school’s mission and philosophy. The school is committed to provide an atmosphere in which children develop a love of learning and see themselves as agents of change in the world with graduates who are equipped with the academic and spiritual foundation to become responsible and well informed citizens of the world.
Position Summary: Under the direction of the Pastor of St. Mark’s Parish, in collaboration with the school board, and with the support of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles Department of Catholic Schools, the school principal is responsible for the administration, supervision, evaluation, management, and operational vitality of the school guiding its visionary growth. The principal is the primary spiritual and academic leader of the school.

h. Collaborator: Values, engages, and connects parents, the parish and local community, and other partners in supporting programs and opportunities to maintain and grow the school’s presence and impact
i. Relatable and Trustworthy: Communicates appropriately and effectively with all stakeholders
1) Active Practicing Catholic
2) 5 years teaching experience, at least 2 of those 5 years in Catholic education preferred
3) Earned Master’s degree and California Credential (teaching and/or administrative)
4) Preference given to candidates with Catechist certification
SALARY/BENEFITS: Salary commensurate with education and experiences. The Archdiocese of Los Angeles offers health benefits including medical, dental, and vision and all employees are enrolled in pension benefits from the time of employment and considered vested after five years of full-time employment.
