San Gabriel Mission Elementary School is seeking a STEM/Math teacher for the 3rd-5th grade band for the 2020-2021 school year. This teacher will serve as homeroom teacher for one of those grade levels and teach the STEM and Mathematics block for students in the third, fourth and fifth grades.
San Gabriel Mission Elementary School is making a shift next year, moving away from the more traditional styles of instruction to a collaborative, inquiry-based and hands-on approach to teaching and learning. This will happen, not only in our STEM classes, but across the subject areas and for all students. As a STEM Network school, we will approach teaching using a cross-curricular approach, making connections between STEM and all other subject areas in meaningful and authentic ways.
The ideal STEM/Mathematics teacher will be capable of planning for inquiry-based and highly collaborative lessons that are aligned the NGSS standards and engaging for students and be confident in integrating technology in the classroom. This teacher must also understand STEM education and appreciate the STEM mindset as a benefit for the development of lifelong learners and future Catholic leaders.
Minimum three years of classroom experience
Teaching credential and/or Masters in a field of science or math
