The Exciting Next Chapter for St. Bernard High School
The Kimmelman Family Foundation and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles see the potential of enriching offerings and creating best-in-class educational and athletic facilities to support thousands of students throughout the greater Los Angeles community. This unique and exciting project, called “Lulu’s Place,” is currently planned to be situated on the vacant parcels controlled by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) adjacent to SBHS along with portions of the project on the campus of SBHS. It’s envisioned that SBHS and the partners who have joined the Kimmelman Family Foundation will collaborate on programmatic offerings, as well as share the use of corresponding facilities. This collaboration poses a unique opportunity to modernize the St. Bernard High School campus, which will continue to operate as an Archdiocesan Catholic high school, amplifying its Mission through this innovative partnership to serve thousands more students into the future.
The next president of SBHS will have a unique opportunity over the next several years to collaborate closely with the team at with Lulu’s Place on design, construction, programming, and use of the incredible facilities that are projected to be built directly on – as well as adjacent to – the SBHS campus.
On a parallel path, along with the principal and leadership team at SBHS, the next president is responsible for developing and implementing a rigorous, innovative, and relevant high school ecosystem delivering a world class spiritual, formative, and educational experience – preparing its scholars for college, career, and life.
Position Description
Reporting to the Department of Catholic Schools for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, the President is the Chief Executive Officer of the school, and as such, holds full responsibility for implementation of the school mission and all other aspects of the school’s business operations. The President is directly responsible for the external affairs of the school, for ensuring sufficient resources, sound fiscal management and financial stability of the school through direct oversight of the business operations, development, alumni, community relations and enrollment management activities. The inaugural President has the unique opportunity to form a consultative board and promote the good reputation and values of the school to the external community. Working collaboratively with the school Principal, the President will provide enthusiastic, mission-centered leadership to ensure strong academic and co-curricular programs permeated by the Catholic Faith.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
• Knowledgeable and practicing Catholic with a thorough understanding of Catholic school philosophy
• Completed or is willing to complete basic catechist training
• Commitment to modeling the values of Catholic educational leadership
• Master’s Degree in Educational Administration, Business Management, or related field
• Business skills necessary to manage a financial budget and develop strategic and annual plans
• Possess the skills necessary to effectively market the strengths of a school, build community relationships, and drive fundraising activities
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills including proven ability to engage and inspire a wide range of stakeholders, and to build creative and mutually beneficial relationships within the philanthropic community, alumni, and corporate and non-profit sectors
• Proven fundraising and/or revenue generating success, preferably in the non-profit sector and with philanthropic foundations
• Significant visionary leadership and management experience, with demonstrated success in addressing immediate organizational needs while driving toward longer-term goals with buy-in from all stakeholders
• Demonstrated success in building, coaching, and empowering effective teams, and holding team members accountable for performance
• Successful experience with managing large-scale school construction projects

• Ability to balance decisive leadership with respectful collaboration and inclusivity
• Excellent oral and written communication and motivational skills with a variety of stakeholders
• Demonstrated success in providing visionary, dynamic, and entrepreneurial leadership
• The ability or demonstrated performance in overseeing and directing a multifaceted operation, including fundraising, public relations, facility maintenance and enhancement, fiscal management, and supervision of senior personnel
• Intellectual, organizational, and managerial skills with an ability to lead others in long-term planning
• Attitudes characterized by creativity, initiative, and optimism
• Ability to effectively represent the school and the Church
Requirements
Compensation package:
Approximately $120,000 to $180,000. Commensurate with level of relevant experience, professional certifications, and/or degrees earned – plus benefits.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
