Description
• Our idol candidate seeks to:
o imbue its students with both a spoken and written understanding of a world language;
o Model the characteristics of a Josephine educator;
o Actively support St. Joe’s Mission, Philosophy and ISOs;
o Design and/or implement courses and units that effectively promote department outcomes and adhere to the scope and sequence as determined by the department;
o Plan what students will learn, how they will learn, and how they will be assessed within a framework that features common assignments and assessments appropriate to the grade level within the academic discipline;
o Engage students in an active, effective learning environment;
o Collaborate with peers to develop, review and improve curriculum;
o Provide regular and varied assessments of student learning to compile appropriate grades and properly determine what and how all students are learning;
o Communicate consistently with students, parents and school personnel;
o Demonstrate a commitment to professional growth, including sharing best practices in pedagogy and educational technology;
o Work with appropriate administrators, division chair, STEP coordinator, and/or counselors to support students that may have special learning needs;
o Keep current and complete grading and attendance records;
o Prefect and supervise students outside of the classroom;
o Actively support the co-curricular programs of the school.
Requirements
• Required Qualifications
o Fluent in Spanish (speaking, reading, and writing)
o Undergraduate degree in Spanish, Education, or a related field of study
o Teaching Credential (or ability to achieve credential within 5 years or hire date).
• Desired Qualifications
o Master’s Degree
o Experience working with high school students
o Experience as a classroom teacher
o Experience with CANVAS Learning Management System and 1:1 iPads in classroom settings
o Experience in a Catholic high school setting.
