We are seeking a dynamic primary teacher to teach all subjects (ie, Language Arts, Social Studies and Religion in English, and Math, Science, and Language Arts in Spanish) in a self-contained bilingual classroom.
Candidates should have a demonstrated record of success working with elementary or middle school students and be a team player as the teacher will be expected to partake in additional duties outside the classroom (e.g, recess supervision, fundraising activities, religious programs, etc)
The well-organized, highly energetic, and deeply caring educator will be expected to plan and implement a developmentally appropriate yet rigorous academic curriculum in line with the Common Core and Archdiocesan standards. Importantly, this position seeks an educator who is skilled in differentiation, can clearly articulate and hold high expectations for all, and whose classroom management is impeccable.
Teacher will be expected to:
Conduct 100% of instruction in Spanish for half of the day, and the other half entirely in English
Teach grade level content
Structure activities in the classroom to encourage students to engage in both language input and output, to facilitate oral language production and comprehension.
Avoid any use of translation to facilitate comprehension; rather, the teacher shall use context clues, manipulatives, visuals, and student-centered instruction to facilitate comprehension.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
Preferred but not required:
Working towards or possess a teaching credential and/or MA
ESL, Bilingual, or Reading endorsement, or significant training in literacy development.
Experience teaching in a dual immersion program

The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
