POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Cathedral has a full-time position open for a dependable, detail-oriented secretary to join the Cathedral Team. As a representative of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, there is an expectation of the Liturgy Secretary to conduct oneself according to the goals and mission of the Cathedral, the Archdiocese and the Roman Catholic Church.  This position, under the supervision of the Cathedral Director of Liturgy, is for someone who is professional, outgoing, friendly and competent in general office and clerical procedures, willing to serve as a minister of hospitality to those reaching out to the Cathedral, while at the same time maintaining accurate Cathedral records.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Job duties include, but are not limited to

  • Provides clerical support to Liturgy Department personnel
  • Answers phone calls, keeps records of calls, maintains calendar for Director of Liturgy
  • Oversees and maintains all Baptismal Programs, records, schedules and meetings
  • Maintains Sacramental Register (book and electronic versions)
  • Maintains records for RCIA/RICA programs, Family Faith Formation Program and Adult Confirmation Program.
  • Maintains schedule of liturgical ministers, coordinates mailing and distribution of the schedules
  • Works with Volunteer Coordinator to keep liturgical minister database updated and current
  • Maintains files for both Liturgy and Music offices
  • Prepares music program for weekly Organ Recitals
  • Assists with Spanish translation for documents and communications, in writing, in person or on the phone
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Catholic faith, rituals and traditions
  • Prior parish office experience preferable
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills – bilingual English/Spanish required
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines, work harmoniously and cooperatively with other staff.
  • Well-organized, flexible and able to manage different projects concurrently and often under pressure
  • Able to set priorities and manage time effectively in a team environment.
  • Computer, database, report generation skills
