Description

St. Michael Parish is seeking a part-time Religious Education Coordinator who is dynamic, energetic, and deeply rooted in the Catholic faith. This role, comprising 25 hours a week, encompasses the management and development of the parish’s religious education program.

The coordinator will be responsible for creating a comprehensive curriculum that aligns with Catholic doctrine, selecting appropriate instructional materials, and adapting the program to meet the diverse needs of the parish community.

Key responsibilities include recruiting and training volunteer catechists, ensuring they are well-prepared and familiar with church teachings. The Coordinator will also oversee classroom management, address any student-related concerns, and coordinate sacramental preparations for Baptism, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation, RICA-RCIC which involves meetings and retreats for families. Additionally, the role emphasizes family engagement through events and effective communication, as well as maintaining accurate records of student progress and managing the program’s budget.

Requirements

Minimal Requirements:

Candidates should be bilingual in English and Spanish, possess strong communication and organizational skills, and have leadership qualities to motivate volunteers. A relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in religious studies, theology, or catechetical certificate is required, along with a minimum of three years of experience in running a religious education program. Familiarity with church teachings and sacramental preparation is essential.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
