Description

The pastor of St. Monica Catholic Community and the board of Saint Monica Preparatory have opened a search for its next president, whose term will begin July 2025.

SMPREP
looks forward to welcoming a transformative and visionary leader as its next president to carry forward the work of establishing a true “One School” continuum of education under its Lower School and Upper School model.

Supported by a strong administrative leadership team, the president works closely with the administration, faculty, staff and families in the support of the school’s initiatives. The new president will head a school that offers a robust program of academic studies, co-curricular activities, spiritual formation and community service where students are encouraged to take risks and discover their unique gifts and talents.

The board recognizes the critical importance of finding the right leader to guide the school into its next phase of its development and are preparing to conduct a thorough, effective search for the president for SMPREP.

Requirements

The pastor, board and the school community are interested in all candidates who can embrace, articulate and promote Saint Monica Preparatory’s Catholic identity as well as its dedication to faith, academic excellence and service. Specifically, the successful candidates will have background, skills and qualities that include most or all of the following:

  • Be a practicing Catholic and have a knowledge of Catholic teaching
  • Have knowledge of effective external affairs programs, which includes all aspects of advancement, fundraising and broader community involvement
  • Understand the fundamentals of business and the economics of Catholic schools
  • Bring a servant-leader approach to heading the school community
  • Exhibit a willingness and intentionality to serve as a leader, manager and mentor
  • Have an awareness of organizational dynamics and possess the managerial leadership to ensure the cohesive functioning of the school
  • Be an effective, expressive and clear communicator, while also being an active listener
  • Know current trends in Catholic education
  • Have a depth of experience tempered with an open-mindedness and collaborative spirit in effectively implementing the “One School” concept at SMPREP
  • Appreciate the assets already in place while identifying what additional resources will be necessary for growth
  • Demonstrate a high level of emotional intelligence and a growth mindset

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
