Plant Manager

Crespi Carmelite High School seeks a full-time Plant manager to join the school, starting May of 2022.

Crespi Carmelite High School, established in Encino, California in 1959, serves male high school age students who wish to pursue a Carmelite college preparatory, Christian education in a Catholic environment. Our mission is to build men of character and faith unified in brotherhood and formed through a contemporary, Catholic, college preparatory education in the Carmelite tradition of prayer, community, and service.

Essential Duties of the Position: Supervise, manage, and execute maintenance for the school campus including buildings, athletics facilities, and utilities infrastructure. Schedule, assign, and provide input regarding the work of custodians and groundskeepers. Must be able to assist in the selection, supervision, training, and evaluation of assigned staff. Demonstrate custodial equipment and methods to custodians. Plan, prioritize, and assign work in order to meet schedules and timelines. Write and maintain routine records, reports, and correspondence.

Working Conditions: 12-month position. Work is performed indoors and outdoors where significant health and safety considerations exist from physical labor and handling of materials that include waste and bloodborne pathogens.

Requirements

Qualifications:
Knowledge and Skills: Working knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment utilized in custodial and general maintenance. Skill in using the full range of equipment used in custodial work. Basic understanding of the operating characteristics of various commercial/industrial-grade utilities, appliances, and equipment. Basic knowledge of work hazards, safety techniques, lifting procedures, and handling of materials that may include waste and bloodborne pathogens. Knowledge of leadership practices. Sufficient English language writing skill to document work activity. Basic computer skills. Sufficient human relations skill to influence the productivity of a small team and work cooperatively with site personnel and the public. Ability to work varying schedules and other duties assigned.

Physical Abilities Required: Ability to function effectively indoors and outdoors engaging in work of primarily an active nature; near visual acuity to write, to read directions, to produce labels, and to observe environmental conditions; sufficient hearing and speech for ordinary communication, to hear sound prompts from equipment, and to determine if equipment is functioning properly; manual and finger dexterity to write, to clean, and to make minor repairs; ability to lift, carry, push, pull, bend, squat, reach, and twist and turn head and trunk to clean and to move furniture, equipment, and debris; and stand and walk for extended periods of time.

Education and Experience: High School diploma or equivalent and five years of experience performing custodial work in a public agency or industrial complex, including one year of experience in a lead capacity.

Licenses and Certificates: Valid California driver’s license. Pool maintenance certificate preferred.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
