Parish Bookkeeper $20,600 – $25,000

PAY GRADE: Hourly                                     EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Part-Time, Non-Exempt


Pay Range: $20,600 – $25,000

Under the direction of the Business Manager, the bookkeeper is responsible for processing the day-to-day financial transactions of the Parish. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate records of all payables and receivables, daily financial entries and reconciliations.

  • Prepare batch summaries for all deposits from the sources noted below, update Parish donor database, reconcile to actual bank deposits, enter transactions in QuickBooks and prepare summary of weekly deposits for Parish bulletin:
    • Weekday & weekend collections
    • Electronic transactions (Square registers and eCatholic website)
    • Special events manual & electronic transactions
  • Prepare monthly file extract of Online Giving data.
  • Assist in year-end preparation and mailing of donor tax statements, with a focus on accuracy and completeness.
  • Review and process invoices and check requests for payment, enter transactions in QuickBooks. Collect and keep file of W9’s for all relevant vendors. Maintain files of all payables.
  • Assist the Business Manager in the preparation of documents for the monthly close, bi-monthly Parish Finance Council meetings and any Parish presentations.
  • Coordinate and ensure compliance with document retention policies.
  • Maintain electronic and hard copy vendor files.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned by the Business Manager.

The ideal candidate has bookkeeping, payroll and administrative experience in an office setting, is friendly and helpful, is detailed and organized, enjoys having a variety of responsibilities, and appreciates the challenge of helping the busy parish office run smoothly.



Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Business Management or other related fields
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a general bookkeeping or accounting functions
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Knowledge and experience with ParishSoft Suite and Online Giving desirable
  • Knowledge and experience with Square and eCatholic systems desirable
  • Bilingual, desirable

Physical Requirements:

  • Sit for sustained periods of time on a daily basis
  • Occasionally lift up to 20 pounds
  • Perform tasks requiring intermittent bending, stooping and walking
  • Sustain frequent movement of the fingers, wrists, hand and arms


Employee will be required to work 20 hours of per week (Monday to Friday). May include overtime on weekends, evenings and holidays based on event demands.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
