Description

Mother of Sorrows School has been a proud contributor to the South Los Angeles community since 1948. We are committed to delivering faith filled, quality education grounded in standards-based curricula, data-informed practices, and tailored instruction to better meet the unique needs of each student. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic individual for a part-time music teacher and liturgist grades K-8 for the 2024-2025 school year.

The preferred candidate should have prior music training and proficiency in playing at least one musical instrument. Responsibilities include creating weekly music lessons, leading students in singing and responsive music during weekly Masses, directing the school choir, and assisting teachers with preparations for the annual Christmas program. Candidates will also be needed for special weekend masses like Catholic Schools Week Mass, First Communion, and Welcome back Sunday Mass.
Collaboration with faculty and administration, excellent communication skills, and strong organizational abilities are necessary. Building positive relationships with students, faculty, and parents, as well as community building skills, are crucial.
The ideal candidate must be able to effectively supervise students in various settings, adhere to school procedures, and implement successful classroom management strategies.
While this is a part-time position- there is the potential for additional hours depending on candidates availability, skill-set and creativity.

Requirements

Minimum qualifications for this position include a high school diploma. Preferred qualifications include a B.A. and/or teaching experience. Interested applicants are requested to submit a resume, cover letter, and please include references.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
