Description

Primary Function: The ministry coordinator serves as an integral member of the parish leadership team (pastor, business manager, DRE, youth minister, liturgy and/or music coordinator) and collaborates with the pastor to attend to the overall faith life of parishioners, potential parishioners, and guests. The ministry coordinator serves all adult ministries, specifically: formation/education, spiritual/prayer, evangelization, pastoral care, outreach/social justice, liturgical, community life/events and Hispanic community.

General Ministry Responsibilities

  • With the pastor and leadership team visions, plans and sets goals for the parish
  • Visions, plans, implements and manages all aspects of adult faith life
  • Promotes the parish culture of welcome and hospitality
  • Attends and interfaces with parishioners and guests at parish gatherings, liturgies and social functions
  • Ex officio member of Pastoral Council

Ministry Oversight and Support

  • Central staff resource person to and advocate for all adult ministries
    • Coordinates with ministries for annual scheduling of regular meetings/gatherings and events: facilities, Sunday activities (announcements and plaza), marketing
    • Approves and maintains room scheduling and resources throughout the year
    • Liaison between ministry leaders and communications staff person for ministry and event marketing via print and electronic modes of communication
    • Liaison between ministry leaders and business manager for ministry finances
    • Communicates regularly with ministry leaders to ensure ministry health and sustainability
    • Communicates information from pastor and leadership team to ministry leaders
    • Assists with leadership development and transition
  • Responsible for parish’s overall culture of hospitality (ministries and Sunday experience)
    • Developing, communicating, and training
    • Oversees and is liaison to Sunday ministries: ushers/hospitality ministers, coffee & donuts, coordinates hospitality leads (acts as hospitality lead at least once a month)
  • Responsible for annual ministry fair
  • Coordinates other parish events as needed (plans and executes and/or recruits teams and volunteers)

Requirements

  • Active member of a Roman Catholic parish faith community, willing to grow deeper in faith while working together in the mission of the Church.
  • Bilingual a plus but not required.
  • Skilled organizer and overseer of calendar management.
  • Sensitive to controversial issues and able to respond according to Church teaching.
  • Meet the Los Angeles Archdiocesan Safeguard the Children protocols
  • Attend staff meetings, parish events indicated by the pastor
  • Must be able to work weekends and /or evenings as need by event calendar
  • Excellent communication skills to establish good relationships with supervisor, staff, adult volunteers and parents.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google platforms

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
