Summary: Full-time exempt position. Reports directly to Directors of Outreach and for Spiritual Care & Engagement

The Ministry Assistant will be a talented, flexible and proactive team player who has the primary day-to-day responsibility of supporting the Director of Outreach and the Director of Spiritual Care & Engagement. In doing so, the Ministry Assistant will be a crucial link in helping St. Monica live out its parish mission of forming loving disciples who will transform the world

The Outreach Department coordinates ministry activities in the areas of (1) fellowship and community life, and (2) peace & justice, both on campus and in the broader community. The Spiritual Care & Engagement Department coordinates pastoral care ministries, the Spirituality Center (spiritual direction, talks & retreats), and ministries that connect volunteers to service opportunities.

The desired candidate can quickly and capably support staff and volunteers with running approximately forty-five (45) ministries and programs. Duties include intakes for Hope at the Door (St. Monica’s crisis ministry); directing parishioners in need to applicable ministries or parish services; supporting spiritual direction programs; communications, both internal and external; office support, including record-keeping, coordinating meetings, maintaining current volunteer information and database records of all assigned ministries, and producing reports; and ministry support, including facilitating Zoom meetings, updating rosters, event lists of participants and providing name tags for various activities, and assisting with orientations (leadership training, facilities & equipment) for all new volunteers.

This employee also assists in the coordination and oversight of assigned projects and groups and this includes promotion, setup, volunteer recruitment and training, cleanup, financial and administrative matters for the areas listed below.


Bachelor’s degree required, preferably with experience serving clients in a social service organization. Ability to type at least 50 words per minute. Strong computer skills, especially with Word and use of the Internet. Excellent interpersonal, communications, and organizational skills. Program planning and volunteer management skills Desirable skills: Outlook, Publisher, MailChimp, RENXT, Zoom.
