Description

We are seeking a qualified and passionate middle school history teacher to join our team at a St. Mary Magdalen Catholic School. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of history and the ability to effectively communicate concepts to students in a way that is engaging and accessible. They should also be committed to providing a safe and inclusive learning environment that aligns with the Catholic faith.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Develop and implement lesson plans that align with state standards and the school’s curriculum
2. Teach middle school history courses to students in grades 6-8
3. Use a variety of teaching strategies to engage students and promote understanding of concepts
4. Provide ongoing feedback and assessments to students to monitor their progress and identify areas for improvement
5. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress and concerns
6. Collaborate with other teachers and staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment
7. Maintain accurate records of student grades and attendance
8. Incorporate Catholic teachings and values into classroom instruction and interactions with students
9. Attend and participate in school events and activities as required

Requirements

The successful candidate will possess:

1. Bachelor’s degree in history or a related field
2. Teaching certification in history or equivalent experience
3. Understanding of Catholic teachings and commitment to supporting a faith-based learning environment
4. Experience teaching middle school history, preferably in a Catholic school setting
5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
6. Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational trends in education
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
8. Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development and training opportunities

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
