Description
St. Dominic Savio School, a Salesian institution, is seeking a dedicated, experienced, and dynamic Middle School Religion/Social Studies Teacher. We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about teaching, innovative in their approach, and enthusiastic about engaging middle school students. The ideal candidate will create lessons that align with Common Core State and Archdiocesan Standards, effectively incorporate technology in the classroom, and foster a collaborative, supportive learning environment.

- Actively participate in all school and grade-level meetings, designated school functions outside of regular hours, and both individual and school-wide professional development opportunities.
- Demonstrate professionalism in punctuality, conversation, and written communication; meet deadlines and consistently provide progress updates on projects and goals.
- Engage in reflective practices through self-analysis and participation in feedback processes to enhance professional growth.
Classroom Responsibilities
- Maintain a productive, safe, and disciplined classroom with clear displays of values, teaching points, process charts, and student work.
- Maximize instructional time with smooth transitions and effective classroom management, maintaining the flow of activities throughout the day.
- Adhere to school policies, procedures, and protocols, fostering a respectful and organized learning environment.
- Differentiate instruction and provide accommodations to support the growth and success of all students, ensuring they meet academic standards.
- Build strong relationships with students, showing genuine interest in their well-being and using firm yet kind authority to promote a positive classroom culture.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Practicing Catholic with strong knowledge of Catholic teachings and values.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- California teaching credential or current enrollment in a credentialing program (Single or Multiple Subject).
- Minimum of three years of teaching experience.
- Proficiency with educational technology, including iPads and Google Classroom, with the ability to integrate these tools into instruction.
Compensation: Salary will be commensurate with experience, professional certifications, and degrees held.
Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
