Saint Sebastian School provides a Catholic dual language education to prepare students for a diverse 21st century. We are located in the heart of West Los Angeles and are seeking a full time middle school bilingual Spanish or English teacher for our for the 2020-2021 school year. Importantly, this position demands an educator who is skilled in differentiation, can clearly articulate and hold high expectations for all, and whose classroom management is impeccable.

Requirements

Candidates should:
– Demonstrate record of success working with early elementary grades
– Academic knowledge of English and Spanish
– Plan thematic units collaboratively with colleagues
– Passion for and experience with curriculum development and assessment
– Well-organized, highly energetic, and deeply caring
– Plan and implement a rigorous academic curriculum in line with the Common Core and Archdiocesan standards

All teachers are expected to:
– Develop a course map for language arts and math
– Submit weekly lesson plans
– Assess, document, and analyze student progress
– Actively participate and collaborate in weekly planning meetings
– Communicate with parents through formal conferences and informal communications
– Share school yard supervision
– Participate in school activities and celebrations
– Be eager to learn and desire coaching

The most competitive candidates will possess:
– Understanding of second language acquisition
– Significant training in literacy development
– Experience teaching in a dual immersion program
– Understanding of dual immersion programming and research
– Masters in Education and more than 5 years of teaching experience
– Possess a BCLAD Teaching Credential, or in the process of obtaining
– Basic catechist certificate
