TEACHER AIDE – MIDDLE SCHOOL
AT OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN VENTURA, CA
TIME REQUIREMENT: Full-time
Wage Range: $15.00 – $17.00
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION SCHOOL is a Catholic elementary school serving students in Preschool through Grade 8 in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. OLA provides a faith-based, quality education, developing the whole child. The school’s Mission statement reads: Our Lady of the Assumption School commits itself to provide an education based on Catholic values and academic excellence, in a caring and safe atmosphere, in partnership with the family and parish community. The school is located in an active parish, and next door to St. Bonaventure High School, the elementary school works closely with both the parish and high school on liturgies, activities, and service.
JOB DESCRIPTION: The volunteer serves as a Teacher Aide in middle school classrooms, assisting two teachers in our middle school team. Duties of a teacher aide include assisting with morning carline and after school dismissal duties ( carline valet, walker line, student control on the OLA plaza, and family name announcer), assisting in classrooms, supervising students, monitoring recesses, grading assignments, entering grades online, tutoring and working with small groups of students. Teacher aides may be asked to teach a lesson or lead classroom projects and may be asked to substitute in a classroom on occasion. This position will also support teachers in the planning of prayer and liturgical celebrations, and assist with Sacristan duties for school liturgies.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Solid knowledge of Catholic faith and church teachings, and the ability to confidently share those with students.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and staff.
- Demonstrate responsibility and professionalism in behavior and dress at all times; be reliable and flexible.
- Being self-motivated, creative, and able to undertake projects under won direction.
- Effective written and spoken communication skills.
- Show interest and enthusiasm for working with children.
- Strong interpersonal skills with students and faculty.
- Good sense of humor, outgoing personality, and interest in forming relationship with the school community.
