Our belief in Jesus Christ and the traditions of the Catholic Church are the Foundations of Nativity Catholic School. We are located in the heart of Torrance and offer a whole-child education, mind, body, and spirit, to students in TK through 8th grade.
We are currently seeking junior high teachers for all subjects who exhibit a passion for engaging and empowering students to be life-long learners. The position involves the following:
STRONG FAITH LEADER: Leads daily prayer, plans and participates in school liturgies. Models the teachings of Jesus Christ. Practices the Catholic faith.
EFFECTIVE BEHAVIOR MODERATOR: Maintains effective classroom management and cultivates an atmosphere conducive to learning and one of joy. Supervises and accepts responsibility for the safety and well-being of each student.
EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATOR: Communicates professionally, frequently and in a timely manner with parents, students, colleagues and administration.
STRONG TEAM PLAYER: Confers with principal and staff in the planning and development of curriculum and pedagogy. Actively participates in teacher collaboration and articulation.
WELL-PREPARED, EFFECTIVE INSTRUCTOR: Plans instruction carefully and implements content effectively. Organizes and prepares resources for students. Incorporates technology into the learning environment.
Teaches assigned subjects and assists students as needed.
ASSESS STUDENT PROGRESS: Uses data from formative, summative and standardized assessments to monitor and respond to student progress in an on-going manner; creates/adjusts lessons to address the needs of the students. Participates in STEP meetings to support struggling students.
OPEN TO PROFESSIONAL GROWTH: Participates in ongoing training and maintains the appropriate Catechist Certification.
Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor of Arts Degree in an educational field
California Teaching Credential in a specialty subject (Math, Social Studies, Theology, Literature or English)
Practicing Catholic who has received the Sacraments of Initiation
DESIRED REQUIREMENTS:
Masters Degree in specialty subject (Math, Social Studies, Theology, Literature or English)
Three or more years teaching experience in a junior high setting
Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
