DESCRIPTION
Our Lady of the Fatima School is a co-educational, Catholic, parish school in Artesia, CA, that is seeking a Junior High English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher for 5th-8th grades for the 2024-2025 school year. Ideal applicants should be committed to serving our youth, developing and modeling Catholic faith, and demonstrating effective communication and successful teaching pedagogy. Candidates should also be highly skilled at planning, organizing, collaborating, and developing curriculum to reach the needs of all learners.
SUMMARY OF MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Works in and is supportive of faith-based education.
• Provides individual and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
• Develops weekly and unit instructional plans in literature and grammatical instruction, with emphasis on sentence structure and writing.
• Creates and implements effective formative and summative ELA assessments that track and ensure student learning.
• Creates and maintains a safe and orderly classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Identifies the needs of all students and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude and learning problems.
• Regularly communicates with parents on student progress.
• Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
• Updates online gradebook and posts lesson plans weekly.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in English or similar course of study.
• Experience teaching or educating junior high school students.
• Joyful, authentic, team player who is a servant leader.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Over 3 years of teaching experience, preferably in a Catholic school.
• Master’s Degree in English or equivalent area.
• Credential: Multiple Subject Credential or Single Subject – English Credential.
• Prior experience with an online gradebook and learning management system (e.g., SchoolSpeak, Google Classroom).

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
