BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The Spanish teacher is a full-time, exempt position that reports to the Modern and Classical Languages Department Chair, and the administrative team of Principal and Vice Principals.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
– Demonstrate passion and expertise in the teaching of Spanish at all levels.
– Fluent in Spanish – native speaker preferred. Multilingual (French, Latin) a plus.
– Well-versed in multiple areas of Spanish and World Languages education.
– Proficient in the use of technology in the classroom and willing to incorporate it as a strategy to engage learners.
– Willingness to differentiate learning to reach a range of student learning styles.
– Instruct 5 full credit Spanish classes, assigned at the discretion of the Modern and Classical Languages Department Chair.
– Participate in school-wide and departmental faculty meetings and professional growth opportunities.
– Engage in the life of the school community through presence at school Masses, assemblies, rallies, class retreats, sporting events, visual and performing arts events, etc.
– Chaperone and supervisory responsibilities during the school day and some evening and weekend events.
– Meet with students and parents, as needed, during x period, before, and after school.
– Write college letters of recommendation for students when appropriate.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
– A degree in Spanish or a related field, Bachelor minimum, Masters preferred.
– Ability to develop and implement an effective and engaging curriculum.
– Ability to relate to high school students, and build positive relationships while maintaining healthy boundaries.
– Willingness to collaborate, problem solve, and share best practices with colleagues.
– High-level of familiarity and competence across cultures and multiple perspectives.
– Familiarity and competence in technology skills, and desire to keep learning.
– Must have excellent classroom management, communication, and organization skills.
Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
