Position Overview:
The Principal is the chief administrative officer of SGMHS and is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the school in accordance with the philosophy and policies of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and the school’s mission and values. The Principal reports directly to the Pastor of San Gabriel Mission and works collaboratively with the San Gabriel Regional Superintendent and the Department of Catholic Schools.
Responsibilities:
- Spiritual Leadership: Foster and nurture the Catholic identity of the school, ensuring that the school’s mission and values are integrated into all aspects of school life. Provide spiritual guidance and support to students, faculty, and staff.
- Academic Leadership: Oversee the development and implementation of a challenging and innovative academic program that prepares students for success in college and beyond. Promote a culture of academic excellence and continuous improvement.
- Administrative Leadership: Manage the day-to-day operations of the school, including budgeting, personnel management, facilities management, and student services.
- Ensure the school’s compliance with all applicable regulations and policies.
- Community Leadership: Build and maintain strong relationships with students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, and the wider community. Foster a positive and inclusive school culture.
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the Pastor and the Consultative School Board to implement the strategic planning goals for the school’s future growth and development. Lead the school in its efforts to achieve its strategic goals.
- Advancement – Admissions, Fundraising, and Development: Lead the school’s enrollment management and retention goals. Support the school’s fundraising efforts in collaboration with the Advancement Office. Cultivate relationships with donors, alumnae, and foundations.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Practicing Catholic in good standing.
- Master’s degree in Education Administration or a related field
- Significant experience in educational leadership, preferably at the secondary school level.
- Demonstrated commitment to Catholic education and the development of young women.
- Strong leadership, management, and communication skills.
- Experience in strategic planning, budgeting, student recruitment, and personnel management.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Knowledge of current trends in education and best practices.
- Experience with curriculum development and assessment.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
