Job Summary

The Facilities Manager is critical to the successful management and maintenance of Marymount High School. He/she is responsible for managing the maintenance of all buildings and residences, including janitorial services, preventative maintenance, and landscaping for a 6.5 acre campus. The goal is to ensure that facilities are in a good and safe condition at all times. This position is responsible for managing and training the custodial and maintenance teams (Facilities Department). The Facilities Manager works closely with the Director of Finance and Operations and the Director of Technology in all areas of plant operations. The ideal candidate has a “can do” attitude and can work alongside the members of his department.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

● Inspect campus facilities and two adjacent residential properties periodically to determine problems and ensure necessary maintenance
● Prepare weekly maintenance schedules and allocate work to facilities technicians and janitorial staff (third-party cleaning company)
● Train, supervise and evaluate facilities technician performance
● Maintain an effective safety program for all members of facilities; complete all safety checks on equipment systems
● Coordinate and schedule all event requests and maintenance/cleaning work orders
● Develop maintenance procedures and ensure implementation
● Inspect and maintain building systems (heating, ventilation, fire, etc.)
● Plan and oversee all tradesmen for installations, repairs or maintenance (electricians, plumbers, pool service, landscaping, pest control, and security, alarm system, etc.)
● Keep maintenance logs/reports on daily activities
● Contribute to the development of maintenance budget and ensure compliance
● Manage the fire, safety, and security systems and remain “on call” for fire systems
● Be on-call to respond quickly to emergencies/problems at the campus or residences
● Purchase all facilities cleaning and operation supplies and materials
● Maintain inventory of tools and supplies for custodial, maintenance, and emergency preparedness
● Ensure all school vehicles are cleaned, serviced, and well maintained so they are in safe operating condition for the transportation of students
● Comply with all Marymount High School policies, procedures and quality standards
● Ensure compliance with government health and safety standards; keep records of all maintenance, permits, and licenses
● Perform other duties as requested by the Director of Finance and Operations

Requirements

Qualifications

● Proven experience as maintenance supervisor or similar role
● Strong technical knowledge of all building systems (electrical, heating etc.)
● Knowledge of health & safety practices and regulations
● Understanding of budgeting and performance management
● Excellent planning and leadership abilities
● Brings a great eye for detail
● Moderate level of computer literacy
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
● High school diploma; Degree from a vocational school will be a plus
● Professional Certifications (e.g. CMRP or HVAC certified) are preferred

Physical Requirements

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, hear and use their sense of smell. The employee is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, stoop, climb and work on uneven surfaces. Ability to work outdoors in different weather conditions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
