Description

Two to Three assistants work as a team with the Director, creating engaging daily activities. An essential part of the job is interacting with and supervising children. Each
must have respectful and kind communication with small children. The extended care staff make decisions confidently and plan ahead creatively; they lead crafts/activities, non-competitive sports and games, reading and studying, and help children become more skilled in problem-solving.

Requirements

The extended care director should be:
skilled in communication with children of all ages in the program, a good listener, a clear
speaker, and knowledgeable about facilitating independent learning. Must show an interest in young children’s physical, emotional, and developmental growth. Be patient and communicate well with parents. Must be organized.

Prior experience in either teaching or child-care with young children is a must. Previous coursework in child development or current enrollment in coursework is desired. Strong interpersonal skills, stamina, and love and respect for children are required. Some computer skills are necessary. References are required.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
