K-8 Faculty Member
Sections are multi-age and consist of two grades (ex. 1/2  or 3/4 ) within each section.

Teacher Duties and Responsibilities

Create robust lessons using technology to supplement and enhance learning
As needed, facilitate distance learning, maximizing learning opportunities through progressive and identifiable assessments
Appropriately implement project-based learning and interdisciplinary delivery of curriculum
Deliver curriculum in a multi-age learning environment, responding to specific students’ needs
Ensure benchmarks of appropriate grade levels are met while delivering in a multi-age environment, taking special care to avoid segregation by grade level and instead promoting differentiation among aptitude levels within the classroom
Frequently update classroom environment to reflect current learning and liturgical calendar
Create and/or appropriate instructional material for classroom use
Utilize Socratic seminar pedagogy a minimum of once weekly (at most, daily) to engage students in discussion and critical thinking
Collaborate with other faculty to plan curriculum for the school year
Collaborate with other faculty in a team-teach model when possible
Maintain an environment of academic integrity and respect for scholarship in the classroom
Follow school safety, attendance, and administrative protocols
Supervise students on nutrition and lunch breaks according to rotation schedule
Enforce progressive and rehabilitative discipline model
Carry out ADLA Support Team Education Plan for students, including initial identification, classroom supports, tracking of supports, and communication with parents until formal education plan is put in place
Attend school community events related to faith, academics, and recruitment and retention
Create and prepare sub-plans that can be carried out by a substitute teacher, a parent volunteer, an aide, or the principal, with no prior knowledge of a) the subject matter or b) the class’s abilities in the subject matter
Create and prepare sub-plans that will keep students engaged all day with only surface-level facilitation by sub
Collaborate with parents to lead fundraising campaigns for class field trips and co-curricular activities
Be responsive and accommodating to working parents’ requests to meet with you on campus or through digital means
Participate fully in faculty meetings, taking notes and ensuring what action items must be carried out through the week
Participate in and be willing to lead teacher training sessions, and stay up to date with current teaching methods, practices and any new knowledge in your field
Meet and exceed all continuing education requirements, including annual catechetical recertification
Respond promptly to, and carry out tasks assigned by, email

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree
VIRTUS Certification
Pass background check and fingerprinting through ADLA
Strong faith life and awareness of and willingness to teach the Catholic faith
Demonstrated passion for and awareness of Whole Child Education and Social Emotional Learning within the context of a Catholic school

Required Skills and Experience
Google Suite, including Docs, Slides, Sheets, Calendar, Classroom or willingness to become skilled prior to first day of school
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
Ability to take on many tasks at once and prioritize them by importance and relevance
Demonstrated mastery of curriculum design using a variety of resources and texts
Willingness and courage to teach without a textbook across the disciplines
Demonstrated ability to honor and work with all identities and individuals
Growth mindset with desire to learn and implement new skills, pedagogy, and information

Favorable Qualifications
ADLA Catechetical Certification or comparable theological study
Bachelor’s Degree in a specific subject area that demonstrates a passion for a specific academic field
Master’s Degree, preferably demonstrating a passion for specific subject matter
PhD or other terminal degree
