Description

St. Denis Catholic Church is seeking a dedicated, passionate, experienced individual to join our ministry team as the Director of Teen Confirmation. As a cornerstone of our parish community, the Director will play a crucial role in guiding and nurturing the spiritual development of our teenagers who are in high school as they prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Program Leadership: Design, implement, and oversee a comprehensive Confirmation preparation program that integrates faith formation, service opportunities, and spiritual retreats.
  • Curriculum Development: Develop engaging curriculum and materials that align with Catholic teachings and the needs of today’s teenagers.
  • Pastoral Care: Provide pastoral support and guidance to teens and their families throughout their Confirmation journey.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the parish clergy, staff, and volunteers to create a cohesive and supportive Confirmation experience.
  • Community Engagement: Foster a sense of community among Confirmation candidates through regular meetings, activities, and social events.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate with parents, guardians, and parishioners about Confirmation program details, expectations, and updates.
  • Budget Management: Manage the Confirmation program budget, ensuring responsible stewardship of financial resources.
  • Efficiently manage records for the Confirmation Program, including collection and storing of forms and sacrament certificates.
  • Maintain compliance with all Archdiocesan guidelines and safety protocols for working with minors for all members of the Confirmation and Youth Ministry teams, including the Safeguard the Children Program.
  • Determine creative and effective means of publicizing and promoting Confirmation and Youth Ministry programs and experiences through print and digital media.

Qualifications:

  • Practicing Roman Catholic with a strong understanding of Catholic teachings and traditions and with all of his or her sacraments, including Baptism, First Holy Communion, Confirmation, and Marriage (if married).
  • Certified catechist (strongly preferred); certificate in Advanced Youth Ministry Studies, Advanced Ministry Studies, or as a Master Catechist (preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree (strongly preferred), preferably in Theology, Religious Studies, Education, or a related field.
  • Experience in Teen Confirmation, youth ministry, religious education, or a related field, with a focus on adolescents.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teens and volunteers.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the pastor, other clergy, staff, and parish volunteers in a team environment and to adapt to the diverse needs of teenagers and their families.
  • VIRTUS-certified (before or shortly after hiring).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.

Physical Environment:

  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Be able to reach above shoulder level, to stoop, bend, grasp, pull, push, and twist to retrieve equipment or materials.
  • Utilize computer and office equipment.
  • Be able to handle exposure to noise levels and temperatures consistent with a classroom environment.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
