Description

St. Francis High School (SFHS) is currently seeking an experienced Director of Operations (DO) to oversee and manage the school’s security program, physical plant, and facilities. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the DO is responsible for the sustainment and advancement of the school’s infrastructure to promote a safe, secure student-focused learning environment. The DO is responsible for managing the planning, construction, remodeling, maintenance, cleaning,
safety, security, and use of the facilities and related assets. In addition, The DO serves as an active member of St. Francis’ leadership staff and is the key liaison for the Master Planning Committee and Facilities Committee of the Board of Directors.

Essential Job Functions:

  • MANAGEMENT AND SUPERVISION
    • Manages a maintenance staff of 2 – 3 direct supports.
    • Supervisory responsibilities are full scope including recruiting, hiring, training, staff development, team building, evaluating, counseling and terminating, employee development, engagement and retention.
    • Oversees outside contractors for the school’s grounds, custodial, and security services on campus, an additional 10-12 team members.
  • CONSTRUCTION
    • Plans, budgets, schedules and oversees facility modifications including cost estimates, bid sheets, layouts and contracts.
    • Serves as the school’s representative for working with contractors on design and construction projects.
    • Maintains communications with county and city agencies as necessary to obtain jurisdictional approval, permits and inspection necessary for campus compliance and approved implementation of capital project and facility maintenance.
    • Knowledge of ADA and SWPPP requirements per the local jurisdiction.
    • Inspects construction and installation progress to ensure conformance with established specifications, code and applicable governmental regulations.
  • BUDGETING AND ADMINISTRATION
    • Creates and administers facilities operating and capital budget.

FACILITIES:

  • MAINTENANCE
    • Ensures the careful maintenance of buildings and grounds, equipment, vehicles and cleaning programs that keep the school’s appearance in exemplary condition.
    • Serves as the primary point of contact for all campus maintenance requests.
    • Updates and maintains all preventative maintenance schedules and long range plans.
    • Ensures that all mandated inspections are completed and appropriate documentation maintained.
    • Oversees maintenance projects for the purpose of ensuring completion within project time frames, design, regulatory requirements and budget.
    • Works with the Director of Technology to oversee the school’s telephone, audio-visual and computer wiring infrastructure by working with appropriate suppliers and troubleshooting any related operational problems.
  • EVENTS
    • Ensures facility readiness for day-to-day events as well as special events.
    • Coordinates facility usage by internal and external customers.
    • Schedules, tracks, and coordinates facility use requests.
    • Oversees and manages the set-up for all events.
  • Other job duties and responsibilities:
    • Plans, budgets and oversees campus-wide sustainability programs and efforts to reduce St. Francis’ carbon footprint.
    • Maintains positive relationships with neighbors.
    • Manages all safety and security systems, including annual fire alarm system/testing and POST alarm security system.
    • Certain job responsibilities may be scheduled in the evenings or weekends.
    • Executes all other reasonable duties as assigned by the COO.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited college or university.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in facilities management or property management.
  • A minimum of 5 years of prior experience managing others.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • MICROSOFT OFFICE – Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook functions.
  • KNOWLEDGE – Among other things, must have comprehensive understanding and background in plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems.
  • MANAGEMENT – Experienced in managing, motivating and developing staff.
  • PROBLEM SOLVING & ANALYSIS – Strong ability to identify problems, conduct appropriate analysis and reach effective solutions from everyday activities to the creation of facility master plans.
  • GOAL ATTAINMENT – Demonstrated ability to plan, set goals and objectives, organize and implement to completion.

  • INITIATIVE – Must possess the ability to proactively initiate, participate and follow through in strategic planning matters and on work assigned. Positive attitude and teamwork perspective is essential.
  • LEARNING POSTURE – Must maintain a learning posture, embrace change and individual and institutional growth. Expected to remain current with industry standards relating to facilities management, participate in professional development training and the annual employee retreat.
  • FLEXIBILITY – The ideal candidate must be willing to work weeknight and weekend events as needed.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
