Description

Blessed Sacrament Catholic Parish is seeking a full-time team player with a passion for communication to help take the Good News of Christ to the people of Hollywood, California.

PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintains and builds social media presence, including the creation of content, monitoring of comments, and engaging with users to create online communities of parishioners.
Develops and maintains content calendars for social media.
Supports the planning, promotion, and execution of major parish/ministry events and meetings (including those during non-business hours).
Manages the parish website and future parish app. Makes event registrations and online-giving user-friendly. Updates as needed.
Prepares and edits the paper/online bulletin/newsletter on a weekly basis.
Composes the bulletin/newsletter, weekly liturgy notes, and other information as needed.
Prepares weekly Mass announcements in English and Spanish.
Uploads podcasts and other audio content.
Assists and works with the pastor, staff, and ministry leaders with any communication needs on the website, bulletin, social media, and around the parish.
Ensures that high quality photos are taken at events for the website, newsletter, social media, stewardship, and other communication needs.
Coordinates video production and drafts video scripts.
Works with pastor, staff, and ministry leaders to streamline stewardship efforts.
Works with the Operations Manager to have appropriate signage for those driving, biking, and walking by the parish.
Manages all media contacts with the Archdiocese and provides advertisements as needed to local publications, radio, and TV stations, etc.
Works with staff and ministries to create a brand strategy for the parish and visually brands all external parish communications so people can relate to our mission.
Creates a communications ministry team to assist with varied projects and take advantage of talents within the parish.
Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience
Undergraduate degree required.
Desire to learn, grow and reach the “unchurched.”
1-2 years experience in marketing/advertising/communications.
Some website management experience required.

Social media outlets and marketing techniques.

Skills in:
Proactive and able to identify the communication needs of the parish.
Attention to detail in all work.
Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, volunteers, parish families, single adults, and others; maintaining positive relationships on all levels.
Effective organizational and time management.
Some digital graphic design experience is preferred.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.

Abilities:

Strong oral and written communication skills.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
Be proactive, take initiative, resolve problems, follow through, and simultaneously manage multiple priorities.
Ability to make sound, critical decisions.
Professional, trustworthy, and confidential.
To be available to work on occasional weekends.

Job Type
Full-time exempt position, 40 hours per week. Some weekend and holiday work will be required.
Located at Blessed Sacrament Parish on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood.
A background check and Safe Environment training are required of all parish employees and volunteers.
Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications for the position.
Employee benefits include vacation and sick time; health, dental, and vision insurance; and a pension plan. (Pension plan eligibility requires a minimum of one full year of employment.)
