SFHS Director of Human Resources

St. Francis High School is seeking a dynamic and accomplished leader for its Director of Human Resources (HR) who will be responsible for managing and directing all HR functions including hiring, compensation, benefits, training, employee relations, and information systems. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and serving as a member of the school leadership team, the Director of HR will partner with school leadership in developing, implementing, and managing HR policies, programs, and procedures.

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate with and counsel the COO, President, and other senior administrators to develop strategies in support of personnel management, compensation, and benefits; forecast and anticipate impacts of new requirements. Prepare periodic and ad-hoc reports for the senior administration and relevant board committees.
  • Recommend and implement updated human resources policies, procedures and initiatives that support our school’s needs and align with the school’s mission.
  • Review and revise the Faculty and Staff Handbooks.
  • Manage the employment process for all open positions and partner with hiring administrators and faculty on best practices for recruiting and retaining a diverse applicant pool.
  • Administer and update all job descriptions as necessary or required.
  • Develop, implement, and support the school’s onboarding and offboarding processes, looking for improvements where possible.
  • Maintain and expand knowledge and understanding of existing and proposed federal and state laws/regulations. Identify trends that could affect the school’s objectives or operations.
  • Act as a key advisor on employee relations matters by coaching managers, developing action plans, counseling employees, providing referrals. When necessary, develop and recommend offboarding plans to the COO and President.
  • As a member of the leadership team, participate in strategic planning and implementation of goals
    and action items.
  • Build effective working relationships with staff at all levels, providing counsel and guidance on a broad range of issues, particularly related to workplace culture and productivity. Be seen around campus as a partner and coach.
  • Foster the development of others, facilitate teamwork and cooperation, and aid in the constructive resolution of conflicts.
  • Oversee the annual performance evaluation process for non-contracted employees, coaching supervisors as needed.
  • Implement and oversee employee training and compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Partner with the business office on administering compensation and benefits programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Business Administration, Human Resources or equivalent; Master’s degree a plus.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR or SPHR certification desirable; PHR-CA or SPHR-CA a plus.
  • 5-10 years of HR management and/or generalist experience preferred.
  • Comfortable with technology and knows how to use it to streamline and update HR processes; proficient with MS Office, Outlook, and Google Suite.
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal abilities.
  • Must effectively interact with all levels in an organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • A self-starter and problem-solver; possesses sound judgment and provides thoughtful advice to leadership.
  • Provides exceptional service to employees.
