Role Overview
As a key member of the school’s Leadership Team, the Director of Curriculum and Instruction (DCI) oversees the academic program of the school as the primary support for all teachers. We expect the DCI to foster a culture of constant improvement in instruction, school culture, and student outcomes, with an emphasis on healthy learning environments and relationships. Operating within the Rigor-Relevance framework developed by the International Center for Leadership in Education, the DCI will promote the intentional, explicit teaching of critical thinking skills, and the application of knowledge to real-world problems.

Key Responsibilities
Provide support, feedback, coaching, guidance, and direction for all faculty members, with a thoughtful, team-oriented approach.
Organize and lead weekly professional development sessions for faculty, including film study sessions utilizing class recordings.
Conduct regular formal and informal observations for faculty in line with school policies and procedures.
Manage UC/CSU, NCAA, and AP databases for the school to maintain good standing for all students and curriculum offerings.
Oversee the scope and sequence of curriculum offerings, ensuring the quality of both the overall program and individual course offerings.
Work with Lead Teachers in each academic department on departmental needs and goals.
Collaborate with the Counseling & Student Services department to support student success, communicate with families and faculty, and make decisions regarding student needs and special programming.
Collaborate with the Academic Advancement Team to address faculty concerns, spearhead new initiatives, and evaluate professional development needs and progress.
Collaborate with the Dean of Students on classroom issues affecting both faculty and students.
Collaborate with the Director of Admissions throughout all phases of the admissions cycle, including events outside of normal school hours.
Organize and lead academic awards ceremonies.
Teach two sections/classes within a core academic department.

Requirements

Qualifications
BDHS is looking for candidates who are committed to our Mission, academic focus, and a team-oriented approach to leadership. The ideal candidate will have the following background and experience:
Extensive teaching experience in secondary education, preferably in private schools
Demonstrated leadership experience in secondary education
Master’s Degree or PhD, and valid teaching credential
A practicing member of the Catholic Church is preferred
