St. Lawrence Martyr Church is seeking the right half time candidate who wishes to join a diverse staff of professionals, dedicated to our Catholic faith and eager to work serving our parishioners and the South Redondo Beach and Torrance communities.
Entry level, half-time nonexempt position, 20 hours per week. Wages will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. A background check, fingerprinting and Safe Environment training are required of all parish staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Because all Archdiocesan employees represent the Roman Catholic Church, they are expected to conduct themselves in keeping with the philosophy, goals and mission of the Catholic Church as they perform their functions.
The following are considered essential duties and responsibilities of the Communications Coordinator:
•Works with the pastor, clergy, staff and ministry leaders to solicit, coordinate and create content needed for the website, bulletin, and social media focusing on liturgy, ministry, service and parish and school events
•Updates the parish website, including creating space for event registrations and e-giving
•Prepares and edits the print and online parish bulletin, and sends parish wide communications
•Builds and maintains a parish social media presence
•Works with the parish video ministry as needed to upload A/V content, livestream and other media to parish website, and
•Other duties as needed.
To perform in this position successfully, the employee must possess the abilities and aptitude to carry out each duty professionally, thoughtfully and proficiently. The minimum qualifications for this position are established by the Pastor and Business Manager, in collaboration with key staff as follows:
Education and Experience
•Degree progress (Bachelor’s preferred) in a course of study related to communications, web content development and management, or print and electronic media. The candidate should demonstrate a desire to foster and impart our Catholic/Christian faith through communications.
•Marketing, advertising or communications experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The employee must have the ability to
o assess, initiate, implement and evaluate communication methods and tools,
o make decisions and assume responsibility for delegated tasks, and
o develop and maintain a budget.
• Interpersonal and communication skills:
The employee must have
o sound listening and critical thinking skills,
o strong oral and written communication skills,
o be able to work collaboratively, and
o an ability to effectively communicate in verbal and written forms.
• Technology skills:
The employee must possess
o advanced computer skills, including use of Google Suite and Collaborative Tools, Office 365, and Adobe Creative Suite,
o the ability to grasp the use of Elexio Database & Solutions (ChMS), Clover Website Platform, ShoreTel Phone Systems and an adaptive understanding of audio/visual equipment.
