25-28 hours / week
Position Summary: The Communications Assistant provides support to the Communications Coordinator and others by providing the parish communication and technological support utilizing established print and digital media including Sunday bulletin, mid-week digital bulletin, social media, video and streaming technologies.
Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Understand and have a familiarity with the Parish Mission, media, and branding.
• Assist on Weekly Sunday Bulletins and Midweek Digital Bulletins.
• Assist in digital and printed marketing campaigns.
Help create designs such as flyers, posters, prayer cards, social media posts, audio/visual slides, shirts, banners, logos, etc.
• Communicate and collaborate with the staff and various parish ministries to support their communication needs using the parish bulletin, website, social media, etc.
• Maintain active and engaging presence on parish social media platforms and Parish App.
• Assist in gathering and generating content for future marketing strategies.
• Help maintain and regularly update parish website.
• Fulfill other related duties as may be necessary and assigned by the Communications Coordinator.
Requirements
Knowledge and Abilities Required:
• Familiar with MS Office, Google Suite, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, and basic video editing
• Proficient with all social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Constant Contact, etc.
• Familiar with website design and email marketing software
• Excellent writing and editorial skills.
• Must have the ability to work collaboratively without close supervision and to work well with others and work well in a team effort.
• Demonstrates the ability to maintain effective and professional working relationships with all staff and clergy.
• Able to adapt and meet challenging and changing deadlines and priorities.
• Flexible work schedule to attend some special events.
• Familiarity with the organizational structure and practices of the Roman Catholic Church.
• Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred, but not required.
• Physical Requirements: Includes but not limited to considerable use of arms and legs, whole body movement, walking, stooping, standing, sitting, lifting, and carrying up to 25 lbs., pushing, pulling, kneeling, crouching, crawling, hearing, speaking, seeing, reaching, repetitive forward bending, repetitive arm/hand motions, prolonged gripping of an item, repetitive hand/finger movements, sense of touch/feel, temperature extreme.
Experience:
• Minimum 2 years of experience in communications, theological and liturgical experience, or related field preferred.
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, graphic design, or related field preferred, or show equivalent experience.
