Description
Bishop Garcia Diego High School is seeking a skilled and motivated coach to assist Bishop students in reaching their highest potential—a coach who will put our students first, strive to educate the whole person, and make a difference in their lives. Responsibilities for this position include planning, organizing, and delivering appropriate coaching and providing guidance to student athletes so that they might achieve a high level of skill—as well as an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork—in the sport of boys basketball.
Contracted season:
Practice Begins: Spring/Summer 2025
Regular Season Ends: February 2026
CIF Playoffs: If the team advances into CIF, coaches are required to continue coaching until the postseason ends.
Requirements
- Being in charge of the entire Boys Basketball program: Coach the varsity team and supervise all lower levels and assistant coaches.
- Practice schedule: Practices must be conducted Monday-Friday and some Saturdays.
- Offseason program: An offseason program must be conducted. The dates of the offseason program must be coordinated with the athletic director. This would include implementing a strength and conditioning program. Summer practice, leagues, and tournaments would be conducted in conjunction with other programs practicing during the summer.
- Weekly communication via school portals throughout the year and weekly during the season regarding practice, games, meetings, film, weight room, transportation, team meals, etc.
- Team building activities
- Youth Summer Camp
- TCAA coaches’ meetings: Attendance at all TCAA coaches’ meetings is mandatory. These meetings include the preseason coaches meeting and the postseason all-league meeting.
- Athletic Banquet: Coaches must coordinate the athletic banquet with the athletic director.
- Athletic Roundtable: Coaches must attend the SBART Athletic Roundtable press luncheons.
- Transportation: Coaches must coordinate transportation with their parent representative(s) and Athletic Director.
- Scheduling: Coaches must coordinate the game schedule with the athletic director.
- CIF/TCAA rules: Coaches must keep informed and up-to-date on CIF and TCAA rules.
- Uniforms/Equipment: Coaches must distribute and collect all uniforms and equipment (if applicable) in a timely manner.
- Education: Coaches must keep informed and up-to-date on current trends in the sport and complete all NFHS required training.
- Year-end interview: Coaches must meet with the athletic director for a year-end interview.
- Prayer: Coaches must either begin or end practice with a form of prayer.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range.
