Job Title: Athletic Trainer
Job Status: August-May, 28 hours per week, approximately 40 weeks per year
Pay: $30-$40 p/hour depending on education/experience

Reports to: Assistant Principal of Athletics (direct report), Assistant Athletic Director, Principal
Job Summary
The primary responsibility of the Athletic Trainer is to coordinate programs of preventative care, emergency care, immediate first aid and therapeutic/rehabilitation for St. Joseph High School student athletes. This position exhibits a high degree of independent judgment and must effectively communicate with students, parents, coaches, and other school personnel.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
• Required to use the computer throughout the day
• Frequently communicates with students, parents, and colleagues
• Work will be performed throughout the campus during the day and will travel to offsite locations during football season (away games)
o Must be able to and willing to drive school vehicles and carts
• May occasionally have to lift up to 50-pounds
• Work is generally performed, August-May (with Thanksgiving week, Easter week, and 2 weeks of Christmas off), on Tuesday-Friday, afternoons-completion of games; this is 28 hours a week +/-
o Must be available for home football games, away games, and playoff travel
o The months listed are approximate, and the annual start and end date will be dictated by the school calendar and the department’s needs.
Salary & Benefits
• This position will pay $30-$40 per hour depending on experience and education
• This position is part time; he/she could tailor the hours (within parameters of when games are scheduled) to be flexible and meet the needs of the employee.
• This position is not eligible for benefits, as it is an hourly position of under 30 hours per week.

Requirements
Essential Job Functions
Regular Activities
• Administer treatment of an athlete’s minor athletic injuries and conditions
• Supervise rehabilitation programs for athletes under the direction of the physician
• Train coaching staff about injury prevention, conditioning programs and the selection, care and fitting of protective equipment
• Organize, take inventory, and replenish athletic training room supplies
• Coordinate medical doctors for all large athletic events including all home football games
• Maintain medical files for all athletes
• Provide athletic training supervision at all home events (meets, tournaments, games, etc)
• Keep a clean and organized athletic training room
• Liaison with physicians, athletes, parents, coaches
• Collaborate with Athletic Director on enforcing athletic requirements per CIF requirements
• Manage and conduct all baseline concussion testing for HS athletes
• Attend the Staff and Student Retreats every year, as scheduled by the Administration
• Participate in school professional development days when requested by the Administration
• Referring athletic injuries to physicians for diagnosis and/or treatment
• Provide accurate and timely treatment protocols as directed by the athlete’s physician
Qualifications
Education and Experience
• Required
o Bachelor’s degree required (Sports Medicine or similar field)
o CPR, AED and First Aid Certification
• Preferred
o Athletic Trainer Certified (ATC) as certified by the BOC
o Minimum three years of experience as an Athletic Trainer
Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
