Saint Monica Preparatory (SMPREP) is a parish, coeducational TK-12 day school, a ministry of St. Monica Catholic Community in the heart of Santa Monica. SMPREP has an over 90-year history of educating students for a life of faithful citizenship.
Saint Monica Preparatory is seeking a full-time Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction for the 2023 – 2024 school year. The Assistant Principal: Curriculum & Instruction assists the principal in organizing, administering, and supervising the Upper School faculty.
Assistant Principal – Curriculum & Instruction Duties and Job Responsibilities
Ensure vertical curriculum alignment between grade levels by facilitating appropriate dialogue and organization of lesson planning among faculty.
In collaboration with the principal, and Academy Deans, foster a professional teaching community whereby teachers create and work towards professional development goals, pedagogical/methodological goals, and personal educational goals
In collaboration with the Academy Deans, provide ongoing instructional and planning support so all faculty members successfully grow in their teaching within a PBL framework.
In collaboration with the Academy Deans and Dean of Students, support faculty in classroom management and implementing disciplinary policies.
Collaborates with Principal and Academy Deans in areas of curriculum evaluation and development
Collaborates, develops and oversees the planning and implementation of new teacher orientation and mentoring programs with the Admin Team and Academy Deans.
Collaborates with Upper School Principal as the professional growth advisor for teachers working toward credentials, religious certification, and/or advanced degrees
Assists the Principal with the planning and coordination of faculty professional development
Coordinates with the Principal and the Academy Deans about the Faculty In-service Program
Desired Qualifications
Experience facilitating professional development for faculty in the area of collaborative curriculum design, backward design, PBL, and/or interdisciplinary instructional practices
Well-versed in educational technology (Aeries, Schoology, Google Suite for Education)
Requirements
MA in Education, Education Administration, or a related field
Experience working in co-curricular programs in a Catholic school setting
Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience
3-5 years of successful administrative experience
Strong interpersonal and communication skills promoting a vibrant and rich collaborative working community
Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
