La Reina High School & Middle School in Thousand Oaks, Ca. is currently seeking a full time Accounts Payable and Receivable Specialist beginning June 22, 2021.
The Accounts Payable and Receivable Specialist works cooperatively with the Financial Controller to accurately compute, classify and record financial data to keep records complete. This position performs any combination of routine calculating, posting and verifying duties to obtain primary financial data for use in maintaining accounting records. The Accounts Payable and Receivable Specialist is responsible for checking the accuracy of figures, calculations, and postings pertaining to school transactions.
The ideal candidate will be an excellent multitasker with exceptional communication and time management skills, have a solid understanding of basic accounting principles and is proficient with relevant technology and software. Trustworthiness, efficiency, and organization skills are essential in this role. This position reports directly to the Financial Controller.
• Accounts Payable
o Respond to external vendors and internal managers regarding all aspects of the accounts payable process
o Research information and processes to provide accurate and timely solutions
o Verify accuracy of vendor invoices and general ledger coding
o Generate payments to vendors and match checks to supporting documents
o Review automatic payments to ensure authorization and timeliness
o Develop and maintain a filing system for financial information, records and documents to ensure easily available information
• Accounts Receivable
o Verifies validity of account discrepancies by obtaining and investigating information from billings and activities fees
o Resolves collections by examining tuition payment plans, payment history, and working with parents to clear accounts
o Posting customer payments and other sources of income from multiple sources
• Accounting Functions
o Post journal entries and maintain accurate records
o Assist with preparation for annual audit
o Preparation of annual federal tax filings
o Perform administrative and other tasks as needed
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
• Strong knowledge of QuickBooks and Excel is a must
• 3-5 years of experience working with accounts receivable and accounts payable
• 1-3 years of general accounting experience
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills
• Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and discretion
• High School Diploma or equivalent, college degree preferred
