DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY: To accurately and efficiently perform general accounting procedures. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Because all Archdiocesan employees represent the Roman Catholic Church, they are expected to conduct themselves according to the goals and mission of the Church in performing their work. · Codes payables and receivables. · Receives collections, donations, assessments, royalties, rentals, and premiums from parishes, schools, and other organizations and posts to individual accounts, cash receipt ledger, and subsidiary ledgers. · Provides accountants with daily clerical support. · Prepares daily balance and adjusting entries. · Prepares bank deposits. · Reconciles bank statements. · Corresponds with bank regarding questions or problems with accounts and checks. · Compiles payable/receivable reports. · Updates records. · Processes and mails checks. · Verifies accuracy of checks and invoices. · Analyzes accounts. · May prepare tax forms and reports. · May send collection letters for unpaid accounts. · Performs related duties as required.
RequirementsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience Any combination of education and experience likely to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, typically: · Active Member of a Catholic faith community. · 2 years of college in accounting or a related field. · 3 years of experience in accounting or a related field. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of: · Principles and practices of bookkeeping and accounting. · Principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation. · Modern office methods and procedures. · Tax form preparation. Skill in: · Analyzing accounts. · Accounting methods, forms, and techniques. · Bookkeeping procedures. · Financial report preparation. Ability to: · Communicate effectively in written and oral form. · Develop and maintain effective working relationships. · Operate adding machine/calculator, check preparation equipment, and typewriter; may include computer terminal. · Occasionally lift up to 30 pounds. · Sit for sustained periods of time on a daily basis. · Perform tasks requiring intermittent bending, stooping, and walking. · Sustain frequent movement of the fingers, wrists, hands, and arms.
