6th-8th Grade Social Studies and Religion Teacher $50,000-$65,000 depending on experience

St. Anastasia Catholic School is seeking a dedicated and dynamic 6th-8th Grade Social Studies and Religion Teacher to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching, a strong understanding of the Catholic faith, and the ability to inspire and engage middle school students. This role involves creating and implementing a curriculum that integrates both social studies and religious education, fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment, and supporting the overall mission and values of our Catholic school community. The role also includes supporting a Junior High Class as the homeroom teacher.

Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development and Instruction:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum for social studies and religion for grades 6-8, aligned with California state standards and the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Create lesson plans that engage students in critical thinking, discussion, and hands-on learning activities.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.

Classroom Management:

  • Establish and maintain a positive, respectful, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Implement effective classroom management techniques to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.
  • Monitor and assess student behavior and academic progress, providing timely feedback and support.

Religious Education and Faith Formation:

  • Plan and lead daily prayer, religious instruction, and faith-based activities.
  • Prepare students for participation in liturgical events, sacraments, and service projects.
  • Collaborate with the school’s administration and parish community to promote the spiritual growth of students.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Maintain open and effective communication with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers and staff to support school initiatives and student success.


  • BA or higher degree
  • Clear or California Teaching Credential or working toward a clear Credential
  • At least two years teaching experience preferred
  • Knowledge of and experience with differentiation and engagement
  • Willingness to assist with co-curricular programs and/or activities
  • Active Catholic
  • Engagement in the life and community of our parish school

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
